That depends a lot on what might be wrong with your vehicle. There are car issues that simply can’t be identified by a mechanic and others that no computer in the world would be able to see. We thought we’d share a bit about the importance of an ASE certified technicians who understand the latest computer diagnostics but still uses their education to completely assess your vehicle.
Why We Often Run a Computer Diagnostic Test
If you come in for new tires, we’re not going to pull out the computer to determine if you need them. You’ve already made the diagnosis. However, not all car maintenance or repair is that simple to see. That’s because cars have become much more sophisticated over the past decade. Just think about the number of dashboard lights you now have compared to your last vehicle. What does each one mean and why is it on? The computer diagnostic test can tell us the code that tells us why that light is on. Each light may have dozens of codes. With the help of the computer, we can get to the root of your problem more quickly and accurately.
Good ASE Certified Technicians Look & Listen Too
Once the computer has supplied its codes, our ASE certified technicians will look at the area where the issue may be stemming from. That’s because the code tells us where the issue is but doesn’t always tell us why the problem exists. By using their education and experience, they can then pinpoint the problem and provide you with a repair estimate. That’s just one reason that your car doesn’t come with a computer for self-diagnosis. The code only gives part of the answers, it takes trained technicians to determine the full scope of the issue.
